High school World History studies significant events and themes in world history. We will begin with a brief study of world geography. Then we will move on to the study of the earliest civilizations and continue to examine significant developments and themes in all world regions. We will finally end with a study of the 21st century and globalization.

Notebook
You must keep a neat notebook that will have your papers for class. Dividers can help organize your binder in a way that benefits you best. You will get a major test grade at the end of each term for your notebook. I’ll give you the standards for this in the first few weeks of class.
Make-up Work
YOU are responsible for finding out what you missed if you are ever absent and getting any work that you missed made up. NO MAKE-UP WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR UNEXCUSED ABSENCES!! You will have the same number of days that you were absent to turn in any make-up work.
Integrity Policy
Students must submit their own authentic work. Plagiarism is against school policy. Failure to adhere to the integrity policy will result in a grade of “0” and an office referral.

Course Description:
The Environmental Science course integrates the study of many components of our environment, including the human impact on our planet. Students investigate the flow of energy and cycling of matter within ecosystems, and evaluate types, availability, allocation, and sustainability of energy resources. Instruction should focus on student data collection and analysis from field and laboratory experiences. Some concepts are global; in those cases, interpretation of global data sets from scientific sources is strongly recommended. Chemistry, physics, mathematical, and technological concepts should be integrated throughout the course. Whenever possible, careers related to environmental science should be emphasized. This course is a laboratory course that will teach lab safety and other lab principles in addition to teaching state prescribed standards. Environmental Science has a final exam at the end of the year which counts as 20% of the student’s final grade calculation. Exam exemption is an option…..stay tuned!

Makeup work will be allowed within 5 days of your return to school with an excused absence. Make up tests will be given after school. It is YOUR responsibility to get YOUR missed work. No Makeup work will be allowed or accepted with an Unexcused Absence.
