Physical Science

  • This course introduces scientific investigation and the scope of physical science and will explain how scientific investigation is performed, as well as how technology and science go hand in hand. Students will also learn about matter, including its properties, states, types of changes, and changes of state. We will learn about atomic structure and trends in the periodic table, including types of chemical reactions, radioactivity, the production of nuclear energy, motion, and forces. Newton’s law of motion, the discussion of fluid forces, and how machines work in relation to physics are also covered throughout the course. Following, students will learn about energy, thermal energy, waves, sound -how it is heard and produced, and electromagnetic radiation with an explanation of the electromagnetic spectrum. Students will also examine  the properties of lights, how vision works, electricity, magnetism, and the connection between electricity and magnetism, and technological applications of electromagnetism.

The Google Classroom code for each section of this course will be given in class and all pertinent course information will be available through  Google Classroom.
