• Hello and Welcome to 5th grade!

I am so excited about starting out a great year here at Georgia School for Innovation and the Classics. My name is Dawn Luck and I will be your child’s fifth grade Social Studies teacher this year. My goal is to have a place of growing knowledge and acceptance in my classroom. I hope that we will be able to work towards a successful year together.

Now a little about myself. I have lived in Hephzibah, Georgia for the last 30 years.  Before I went back to school, I worked as Pre-K and K-5 teachers. I also worked as the director of local church day cares. In 2007 I went back to school at Augusta State University and I graduated in December 2012 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. For the first few years, I substituted in local Richmond County schools. I taught 5th grade here at GSIC for five years before spending 2 years in 4th grade. I am glad to be back in 5th grade teaching Social Studies.

I am married to my amazing husband, Paul, and we have just celebrated our 37th anniversary.  We have two children; a daughter, Michelle, who is 33 years old, and has my first grandbaby Rory and a son Damon who is 30 years old. We are an "empty nest" household and, although we miss our children being home, we enjoy our time together. We still have our fur babies; two Shihzu and Maltese mixed dogs named Bella and Cocoa.

Teaching has always been a passion for me. I have a love for learning and hope to instill that love in my students by making my classroom a safe, fun and disciplined place for my students. I want them to enjoy coming to my classroom and learning something new every day. I feel that all children are different and require specific attention and affection for them to flourish. I will strive to be that for each of my students; an educator who loves each child that walks in her door and gives each of them not only an education but a passion to learn.

    Your Teacher,
    Dawn Luck
